Hey guys,

I'm an Australian living in Melbourne and my family and friends have all been devastated by the fires that have been raging through Victoria. I thankfully still have my home. The fire stopped a mere 10 minutes away from my house, but we are all still on high alert. I have a lot of friends and family though who have not been so lucky. Some are dead, others are homeless. This has been the biggest natural disaster Victoria has ever seen, with the death toll steadily rising and many families with nowhere to go, and no posessions.

There is a girl on facebook who has come up with a brilliant plan for all those who don't have the funds to actually donate to the cause. She has entered a competition with the company Samboy, who are giving $10,000 to the biggest facebook group with the words 'SAMBOY IS BACK' in the title. She is getting as many people to join as she can before Sunday and the entire winnings will go to the bushfire appeal. We are currently at 62,696 members, and steadily rising. We're in the lead, but we could still use as much support as possible.

We just hit over 104,000 members. It's been amazing how much all of Australia has banded together over this huge tragedy. Thanks to you guys who have joined and helped add even a little to ease the families struggling at this time.

My family have just registered our house for housing a family that have lost their home to the flames. We couldn't make too much of a substantial donation unfortunately, so we though this would be a good way to help someone pro-actively who is struggling.

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully the heat-wave has ended and we can all go back to re-building our lives.

P.S. I'd also just like to send a shout out to all those in Queensland and the NT who are struggling with the flooding. We in Vic and NSW aren't the only one's who have suffered. It's been a tough summer.
